Knights bring home Battle of Barstow

Hoover struck first in the renewal of an old rivalry 10 years in the making, but the Knights exploded for four touchdowns in the second half on their way to a 70-13 win over the Patriots at McLane High on Friday night.

Junior Tyler Franklin threw for seven touchdowns, three to junior Davein Potts, two to junior Tomas Dixon, one to senior Israel Castaneda, and one to junior Tyrin Pree. Senion Devon Laney ran for two touchdowns and sophomore Jayden King recovered a punt blocked b y Castaneda for a touchdown.

King, junior Fernando Avila and seniors Akilleus Ornelas and Raymond Nylen all had sacks and Ornelas added a forced fumble recovered by junior Mario Cosio. Junior Austin Ladd finished the game with an interception. Senior Preston Clarke went a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points.

Next Friday, Bullard travels to Bakersfield in a matchup of 3-0 teams. Kickoff is 7pm.
