Knights open the season with a bang

Merced (CA) - Senior Israel Castaneda caught two touchdowns from junior Tyler Franklin and Castenada added an interception on defense as the Knights jumped out to a 35-0 halftime lead before the game was called prior to the start of the second half due to a power failure with the stadium lights.

Franklin threw three touchdowns, including a strike to junior Austin Ladd and senior Devon Laney added one on the ground as did Franklin.

Senior Nate Flores led the charge on defense with four tackles and a forced fumble on a big hit. Junior Mario Cosio recovered the fumble and junior Fernando Avila III and senior Akhilleus Ornelas each had half a sack.

Bullard returns to the 209 next week to take on Buhach Colony at Atwater High at 7pm.
